Customer Release & Acknowledgment
Last Updated: October 11, 2026
We love making porches look great. Here's what you agree to when we come to your home. This Release is part of our Terms of Service.
1. Access to your property. You give Detroit Pumpkin Company and its crew permission to enter the driveway, walkways, porch, steps, and yard areas needed to deliver, install, restyle, replace, and remove your display, whether or not you're home. If you're ordering a gift, you confirm the recipient (or the property owner) is fine with the visit, and we'll get in touch with them before delivery. You'll keep the path clear, tell us about gate codes, HOA rules, and anything we shouldn't step on, and mark invisible-fence wires, irrigation heads, and buried lines.
2. Safety and crew injury. You agree to tell us about known hazards before install day, such as loose railings, soft or rotted decking, broken steps, ice, exposed wiring, or an aggressive animal. Our crew may decline or adjust any part of an install they think is unsafe. That's not a cancellation, and the rest of your order goes ahead. If we can't get access or can't install safely on the scheduled day, we'll reschedule, and we will always try to reschedule if we run into anything. A reschedule is not a refund. We're responsible for our own crew and carry our own coverage for them. You're responsible only for injuries caused by a hazard you knew about and didn't tell us, or by you, your household, or your guests.
3. Pumpkin treatment. We clean every pumpkin and treat it with a homemade animal repellent spray made of apple cider vinegar, cayenne pepper powder, and water. The optional take-home bottle is the same homemade spray. It's for outdoor decorative use only. Heads up: cayenne pepper powder can irritate eyes, skin, and pets' noses and mouths. Keep pets and kids from chewing on or handling the pumpkins, wash your hands after touching them, and don't eat displayed pumpkins, gourds, corn, or hay or feed them to people or animals. Store any take-home bottle out of reach of children and pets, and don't spray it near eyes or faces.
4. Pets and kids. You're responsible for supervising children and pets around your display. Pumpkins are heavy and can roll or tip. Stalks, hay, and small gourds can be choking or tripping hazards. Treated or rotting pumpkins can make pets sick if eaten. Please keep pets inside or secured during our visits.
5. Natural decay and your porch. Pumpkins are a living, natural product. They soften, leak, mold, and attract squirrels, deer, and other animals as the season goes on, faster in heat, rain, and freezes. Moisture, hay, and decay can stain or mark wood, paint, stone, and concrete. Using a mat or barrier on porous surfaces is your choice, and we're happy to suggest one. Some people are sensitive to mold or plant material, so let us know if anyone in your home is. Except as stated in our 30-Day Freshness Promise, we aren't responsible for natural decay or the effects it has on your property.
6. Release. To the fullest extent Michigan law allows, you release Detroit Pumpkin Company, its owners, and its crew from claims for injury, illness, or property damage that come from the risks described above: natural decay, wildlife, weather, the presence of pumpkins and decorations, hazards you didn't tell us about, and how your household, guests, and pets interact with the display after we leave. This Release does not cover damage or injury caused by our negligence during a visit (which is handled under Section 16 of our Terms), or by our gross negligence or willful misconduct. It also doesn't take away any right Michigan law says can't be waived.
7. Your other rights. This Release doesn't change your cancellation window, our guarantees, or how we handle damage our crew causes. See our Terms of Service and Refund Policy.
